Principal Chief Conservator of Forests,

Mr. A. K. Nigam, after doing M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry and research work on Cardiotonic substances (Heart stimulants) obtained from plants, from Lucknow University, Lucknow and Central Drugs Research Institute, Lucknow, was selected in Indian Forest Service in 1979 batch and allotted to Maharashtra Cadre. After “On the job training” in Dahanu Forest Division & ACF’s charge in Shahapur Forest Division (Thane), he did his divisional charge in Central Chanda, FDCM where he managed famous Southern Tropical Teak forests of Chanda and raised superior quality Teak plantations. He managed Tadoba National Park, which is now a prestigious Tiger Reserve. While on deputation to Government of India, he was Principal, Forest Rangers College in Balaghat, M.P. and later he trained IFS probationers in Indira Gandhi National Academy, Dehradun as Associate Professor.

On promotion as Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), he was incharge of 19 National Parks and Sanctuaries of Maharashtra except Vidarbha region, with headquarter at Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Borivali, Mumbai. After that, he served in Mantralaya as Joint Secretary (Forests) dealing with budget & co-ordination. Afterwords, he managed Pune Forest Circle and later he was responsible for all trainings in Maharashtra, as Conservator of Forests. Education, M.S. Pune. On promotion, to the level of Chief Conservator of Forests in 2004, he became incharge of Marathwada with headquarter at Aurangabad. After that, he managed the Territorial Circle of Dhule from 2007 to 2009 successfully. Later on, from September, 2009 he managed Wild Life, Nashik Circle as Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Nashik.

On promotion to the level of Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests in May 2011, he was again posted in Mumbai Wildlife circle. Recently, in June 2013, on his promotion to the level of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, he has been posted as Managing Director of Forest Development Corporation of Maharashtra Limited. The Corporation is continuously running in profit since 1988-89 and has declared dividend since last five years. During his service, he has attended various training programmes on variety of subjects. A few important once are “Advance Forest Management” and “Training Techniques for Scientists and Technologists” in Edinburgh University (U.K.), “Designing projects for Agricultural Developments” at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad etc. He is a resource person to various organizations like YASHDA, Pune, Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy, Dehradun, TATA Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai etc. He has about 50 publications to his credit, in various disciplines like forestry, Wildlife, e-governance, Labour welfare, Tribal welfare and Gender issues. He has trained all cadres of Forest Department and others like NGO’s, Armed Force personnels & media etc. He has keen interest in medicinal plant conservation, wildlife management and training & education, etc.


Shri Shree Bhagwan, IFS

Shri Shree Bhagwan an Indian Forest Service Officer of Maharashtra Cadre, 1981 batch, took over the charge of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) and Chief Wildlife Warden of the State on 19th October, 2015.  During his service period he has worked with almost all the wings of the Forest Department i.e. Territorial, Forest Development Corporation of Maharashtra Limited including Government of India and Tribal Development Department of the State.


   As IFS (Probationer) he worked as Sub DFO from August 1983 to February, 1986.  Then he was posted as Divisional Manager, FDCM Ltd. Peddigundum Dn. Allapalli in DCF rank. Thereafter, he worked as Dy. Conservator of Forests, Gadchiroli Division during September, 1986 to July, 1989. He worked as Instructor, Forest Rangers’ College, Balaghat on Central Deputation for the period from 4/8/1989 to 31/3/1990.  After completion of central deputation joined as Principal, Maharashtra Forest Rangers’ College, at Chikhaldara on 10th April, 1990 up to 18th April, 1991. Thereafter worked as Dy. Conservator of Forests, West Melghat Forest Division at Chikhaldara from 19/4/1991 to 28/12/1993.  Thereafter worked as Additional Tribal Commissioner at Nagpur in Tribal Development Department from 10/02/1994 to 5/06/1997. On promotion worked as Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) from June 1997 to October, 2002 then he was posted as Conservator of Forests, Central Evaluation Unit, Nagpur from October,


 2002 to September, 2003, then Conservator of Forests, North Chandrapur Circle up to November, 2006. On promotion posted as Chief Conservator of Forests (Territorial) Thane from 28/11/2006 to 28/07/2010 and then General Manager, Forest Development Corporation of Maharashtra Ltd. from 28/07/2010 to 18/07/2011.  On promotion to the post of APCCF he was posted in head office as ACCF(Budget, Planning and Development) from 19/07/2011 till the promotion as Principal Chief Conservator of Forests.     His last five postings have been as under.

        Born on 18th October, 1958, he is M.Sc. Zoology from Patna University.  Chose Indian Forest Service amongst the All India services to make a career.  


Shri ASK Sinha, IFS

Shri.A.S.K.Sinha, an Indian Forest Service Officer of Maharashtra Cadre, 1981 batch, hails from Bihar. After getting trained from IFC, Dehradun(now IGNFA) and LBSNAA, Mussoorie,  he  joined   as IFS (Probationer) in Sironcha Division, Maharashtra and  did his range training in Jimalgatta Range from August,1983 to April,1984. After spending  a stint as Assistant Conservator of Forest in eastwhite Paratwada Division, he was posted at Allpalli  as Divisional Manager, Pranhita Project Division in FDCM in Feb.1986 Later, he was posted as Dy.Conservator of Forests, Mewasi Division, Taloda and worked there from 1987 to 1990. He worked in Gondia Forest Division as Dy.Conservator of Forests from April 1990 to November 1992 before going on deputation to Govt.of India. He worked in GOI at New Delhi as Asstt. Inspector General of Forests(EAP) in Ministry of Environment of Forests and  as Additional Commissioner(SWC Division) in Ministry of Agriculture between 1992 to 1998. He was repatriated back to Govt. of  Maharashtra in 1998 as Regional Manager, South Chandrapur Region, FDCM Ltd. at Chandrapur  and continued  till 2003.

His next posting  was at Nagpur as Conservator of Forests (Personnel)  dealing with personnel matters in the office of PCCF. During the period 2004 to 2006,  he was  entrusted with the  charge of Conservator of Forests(Headquarter) in the same office. He was  then promoted as Chief Conservator of Forests (Conservation) in  2006 and later on worked as  Chief Conservator of Forest (Protection) in PCCF Office in Nagpur between 2007 to 2009.  Afterwards, he successfully handled the charge of Chief Conservator of Forests (T) Pune from 2009 to 2011. Then after promotion, he worked as  Addl.P.C.C.F. (W.P-East), Nagpur from August 2011 to September 2012; as Chief General Manager (Medicinal Plants Board ) in the office of M.D. FDCM Limited, Nagpur till 01/09/2013 and as APCCF (Conservation), M.S.Nagpur, before taking the charge of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Production and Management), M.S. at Nagpur on promotion on 3rd July 2014. He has varied experiences in the field of forestry at the State Govt. and Govt. of India level.
